What’s with the Wise Bird? What’s that all about Wayne?

I was watching “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” with my five year old son last month. It’s a great 90s classic that he loves. But I happened to briefly catch a random piece of art hanging in the Szalinski family kitchen. It’s only there for a few seconds, but it immediately stood out to me (for pretty obvious reasons).

I had to know what the heck it was and a bit of research gave me this insight. Wise Bird brand was a vintage citrus fruit label for from West Orange Citrus Growers Association of Winter Garden Florida, popular in the 1930s. IT was mainly used with oranges and grapefruits. I love the font and the graphic. You can actually find authentic prints of the label online and for a pretty decent price ($22.00 for a 9×9). I think it’ll look nice in the roastery.
